    Purplish red tinged with ruby. On the nose, a seductive bouquet of black and red fruit, combined with discreet notes of under-wood and liquorice. In the mouth, open and balanced in the attack with notes of liquorice and strawberry, and a well-rounded finish hinting on jam.
  • Brilliant pale straw colour with hints of green around the edges. The nose shows pear, lime and green apple aromas infused with fresh herbs over a stony mineral background. Nicely textured with a rounded pebble stone like feel in the mouth, fresh pear and lime flavours sit over a bed of garden herbs and wet slate.   • This dark red wine is made from one of Southern Italy’s native varieties. One of Italy’s best kept secrets, it is excellent value for money and not widely available from supermarkets.   • From vines 50-130 years old yielding 2 tonnes per acre, open fermented, hand plunged three times daily, matured in French oak (95%) and American Hogsheads (5%) for 16 months unfiltered. Its hard to say which of the fruit, alcohol, tannins or oak makes the biggest impact in this blockbuster wine, beyond the normal parameters of full-bodied Shiraz.  Anyone who buys it will surely know what they will experience, and in the context of style, it is difficult to criticise. This Amon-Ra has youthful toned-down notes of blackcurrants, plums and cracked pepper with nuances of liquorice, dark chocolate, cedar and black earth. The palate has wonderful balance and elegance for its commendable concentration and fullness, with tons of fruit and spice layers framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with great persistence.
